Hanseatic cities along the river Ijsssel: A fantastic
recipe!
The Hansa formed a blossoming trade league in the late
middle ages of cities and merchants in especially the
NorthSea and the Baltic. Articles such as salt, corn,
fish, beer and wine were traded in abundance. In the
wake of these economic relations also cultural and culinary
exchange took place.
In the year 2002 the culinary
heritage of the Hansa can still be enjoyed extremely
well. In numerous restaurants in the hanseatic cities
along the river IJssel you can become acquainted with
traditional dishes from the Hansa days. Honest dishes,
based on the local products that were traded during the
golden age of the Hanseatic League.
Your choice can be either a Hanzepot
or a Hanzemenu. The Hanzepot is a plate service consisting
of l course. Every restaurant offers you its own version
of this dish at a fixed price of € 11. Should your
choice be the more extensive Hansa menu , then you will
be served 3 or 4 courses of which composition and price
differ per restaurant.
You will recognize the Hansa
restaurants by their hanseatic city shield. Elsewhere
in this brochure you will find a summary of the participants.
They will welcome you whole-heartedly with the slogan:
